Today, we take a look back at Manly Warringah’s history against the Brisbane Broncos in Brisbane.
The Sea Eagles and the Broncos were due to meet at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane this Friday night but the Magic Round match has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Broncos played the Sea Eagles in their inaugural premiership match at Lang Park in the opening round of the 1988 competition. Manly went down 44-10.
Lang Park was renamed Suncorp Stadium in 1994. For travelling Manly Members, it's affectionately known as 'Brookvale North'.

The Sea Eagles scored three tries to one to record their first victory in Brisbane against the Broncos. Centre David Ronson, winger Sean Townsend, and prop Hugh Waddell scored for Manly in the Friday night match.

It was a long time between drinks for Sea Eagles fans but Manly finally broke through again after three previous losses in Brisbane. Two tries to Manly winger Danny Moore saw the Sea Eagles take home the two competition points.

Winger Scott Donald grabbed a double in this Saturday night clash at Suncorp Stadium. Aaron Cannings and Anthony Watmough also scored for Manly under the coaching of Peter Sharp.

Two players scored all of Manly’s points in this rare Sunday afternoon match at Suncorp Stadium. Skillful second-rower Anthony Watmough scored Manly’s three tries with half-back and captain Matt Orford kicking three from three and a field goal to get the Sea Eagles home under Coach Des Hasler.

The Sea Eagles overcame a six point half-time deficit to storm home comfortable winners in this Sunday afternoon contest at Suncorp. Steve Bell, Brent Kite, Steve Menzies, Michael Robertson and Brett Stewart all crossed for four pointers in what turned out to be a premiership winning year for Manly.

Centre Jamie Lyon turned in one of his many stellar performances for Manly in crossing for a hat-trick of tries in this thrilling come from behind win. The Sea Eagles trailed 16-6 at half-time with Lyon finishing the game with three tries and three goals for a personal haul of 18 points.

The Sea Eagles took a home game to Suncorp Stadium to play the Broncos in a Friday night double header. Trailing 10-4 at half-time, the Sea Eagles put on 30 unanswered points through two tries each to half-back Daly Cherry-Evans and winger William Hopoate. Jamie Lyon and Tony Williams also crossed for Manly in a massive win.

Sea Eagles winger David Williams scored the match winning try with just 70 seconds left in this Friday night thriller. It was one of two tries for the ‘Wolfman’ with experienced centres Jamie Lyon and Steve Matai also crossing in a memorable win for Manly fans at ‘Brookvale North’.

Manly made it three straight wins in three years at Suncorp Stadium with tough centre Steve Matai leading the way with two tries. The Sea Eagles trailed 14-6 at half-time but piled on 16 unanswered points to take victory.

Manly lock Jake Trbojevic and second-rower Joel Thompson scored two tries each in the Brisbane Double Header at Suncorp Stadium as part of NRL Indigenous Round. The Sea Eagles led 18-14 at half-time before fighting on strongly to end a five game losing streak. Api Koroisau and Akuila Uate also scored for Manly while half-back Daly Cherry-Evans kicked seven from nine goals.
