The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are deeply saddened by the passing of club legend and four-time premiership winner, Ian Martin, aged 75.
Ian was graded by Manly as a 16-year-old and went on to play 159 first grade games for the Sea Eagles between 1969 and 1978.
A tough and uncompromising five-eighth and lock, Ian was a key member of four premiership-winning sides in 1972, 1973, 1976 and 1978. He played in six grand finals throughout his career, finishing his Manly playing days with the memorable 16–0 grand final replay victory over Cronulla.
Ian also represented NSW and Country, and his outstanding contribution to the Sea Eagles was recognised when he was made a Manly life member in 2014.
His legacy as a fierce competitor, proud Sea Eagle and four-time premiership winner will forever remain a special part of the club’s history.
Ian’s toughness, commitment and pride in the Sea Eagles jersey will long be remembered by the Manly family.
