Match Report: Ron Massey Cup Round 3 vs Bulldogs

The early season struggle for Manly Leagues in the Ron Massey Cup continued on Saturday with a 36-6 loss to the Bulldogs in Moorebank.

The Sea Eagles trailed 8-0 at half-time before collapsing badly in a seven tries to one defeat in the round three clash to give the Bulldogs their first win.

Unfortunately, it was the third consecutive time Manly Leagues have conceded 30 points in a game following a 32-4 loss to Brothers Penrith last week and a 32-6 loss to Wentworthville Magpies in round one.

It has been a hard start for the Sea Eagles after they were promoted to the Ron Massey Cup following their premiership success last year in the third tier Sydney Shield competition.

A 10-team competition, the Ron Massey Cup is the state’s second-tier competition that feeds into the NSW Cup.

Manly Leagues trailed 30-0 after 64 minutes before Jerome Van Der Heide crossed for the team’s lone try after the ball was touched by the Bulldogs for him to score in the corner.

The loss leaves the Sea Eagles on the bottom of the ladder.

Manly Leagues now play Ryde-Eastwood Hawks at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Narrabeen, on Sunday, April 19, at 2pm.
