Fresh from their biggest win of the season, the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles have the chance to move into the top five of the NSW Cup this Sunday.
Under the astute coaching of Greg Boulous, the Sea Eagles are enjoying their finest ever season to date since entering the premier NSWRL reserve grade competition in 2017.
Sitting in sixth place after 16 rounds, Blacktown Workers are on 18 points, one point behind the fifth-placed Warriors. The top five teams qualify for the finals.
With 10 games remaining of which five are at home, Blacktown Workers will have the chance their position inside the top five with four home games to be played over the next month at HE Laybutt Field and 4 Pines Park.
This Sunday, Blacktown Workers will take on the seventh-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs at HE Laybutt Field as they chase their third win in a month.
Blacktown Workers go into the match with plenty of added confidence after recording a crushing 46-10 win over Parramatta at Commbank Stadium.
It was Blacktown’s biggest ever win in their seven-year history in the NSW Cup after a few lean seasons.
In a performance that can only be described as impressive, Blacktown Workers tore Parramatta to sheds in the first half to take a commanding 34-4 lead into half-time. It was a good turnaround for Boulous’ men who let a good lead slip the week before to draw 16-all with the Western Suburbs Magpies in a game they had control of.
Blacktown Workers ran in eight tries to two with winger Jackson Ferris crossing for a hat-trick.
Five-eighth Cooper Johns scored a try and kicked seven from eight goals for a personal haul of 18 points.
Furthermore, winger Clayton Faulalo continued his superb to become the competition’s leading try scorer with 15 tries in 13 games. Faulalo also sits seventh on the ladder for most points this season.
Blacktown Workers face another solid challenge in South Sydney, who have won their past four matches to also sit on 18 points. Their latest defeat was at the hands of Paramatta with a 26-16 loss last month.
South Sydney go into the clash with a last start 24-16 win over North Sydney, who have slipped to fourth position after being knocked off the top of the ladder by Blacktown three weeks ago.
Kick-off at Laybutt Field, Blacktown, on Sunday is 3pm following the Jersey Flegg game at 1pm between the Sea Eagles and the Rabbitohs.
