The return of some key artillery on Saturday may well help Manly’s NSW Cup side to their second victory of the season.
Match: Jets v Sea Eagles
Round 13 -
home Team
Jets
5th Position
away Team
Sea Eagles
14th Position
Venue: Henson Park, Sydney
With Manly playing in the NRL on Friday night, the Sea Eagles tackle the Newtown Jets at Henson Park the next day in Round 13 and may well have the likes of gun half-back Joey Walsh and talented winger Blake Wilson to name a few at their disposal.
The Sea Eagles will be looking to bounce back from a 35-16 loss to the Canberra Raiders at Seiffert Oval, Queanbeyan, last Saturday.
Manly got off to a flying start to lead 16-0 after 15 minutes before the R aiders piled on 35 unanswered points after the scores were locked 16-all at half-time.
Sea Eagles NSW Cup Coach Brett Kimmorley was happy with the first half performance before witnessing a second half collapse.
“We followed a game plan, executed some good plays, kicked the ball to some of our taller targets and showed some good skills,’’ Kimmorley said.
“We obviously conceded two tries off short dropouts. I thought we were the much more dominant side in the first half and probably were entitled to be up 20-4 or 20-6 at half-time.
“The second half was a good arm wrestle. We had multiple opportunities through line breaks to score but failed to take our opportunities. We came up with some errors and made it hard for ourselves.”
In a beaten side, Kimmorley was full of praise for newcomers in winger Beau Newlands and centre Samuel Loizou.
“Beau was outstanding and Samuel has been very good over the past two weeks,’’ Kimmorley added.
“They are two players that have just recently joined us and are hungry for an opportunity. They are certainly grabbing that with both hands.”
Kick-off at Henson Park on Saturday, May 30 is 3pm. The match will be shown live on Bar TV.
