Reuben Garrick chasing more good fortune

Fresh from a dynamic performance against the Dolphins, Reuben Garrick will be hoping his good run of fortune against the Parramatta Eels continues this Saturday night.

Garrick has scored 74 points in his past five games against the Eels and lines up  at CommBank Stadium following a hat-trick of tries at centre for Manly in the 58-18 win over the Dolphins at 4 Pines Park last Friday night.

He also kicked nine from 10 goals for a personal haul of 30 points, falling just one point short of breaking the club record for most points in a match.

It is the second time Garrick has had his name written in the record books for 30 points in a match for Manly.

Furthermore, Garrick passed 900 career points for Manly since making his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles in 2019.

With Tom Trbojevic on Origin duty for NSW next week, Coach Anthony Seibold has resisted in shifting Garrick back to full-back to keep him at centre inside flying winger Jason Saab outside of him.

Saab crossed for two tries against the Dolphins to give the pair five tries between them.

“We had a good little connection there. Being outside ‘Chez’ (Daly Cherry-Evans) and Haumole (Olakauátu) was a massive help as well,’’ Garrick said.

“It is a pretty strong edge I have come into. I’m just glad I could have played my part.”

With Garrick being contracted to the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2027 season, the club record for most points for Manly of 1917 held by the great Graham Eadie is well within reach.

Garrick sits sixth on the record list on 914 points through 64 tries and 329 goals.

Footnote: Tries were changed from three to four points in 1982.
