75 years: On This Day - March 22

Let's reflect on some of the best wins of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles as the Club celebrates its 75th season this year.

On This Day - March 22

Rd 4, 1987

Manly second-rower Ian Barkley crossed for two tries in a 26-4 victory over the Parramatta Eels at Brookvale Oval on a Sunday afternoon.

Barkley played 26 matches for the Sea Eagles from 1984-88, scoring six tries.

Mal Cochrane, Des Hasler, and Steve Park also in the win that saw Manly record its third win of the season.

The Sea Eagles would later go on to win the 1987 premiership in the last ever Grand Final played at the SCG.

Rd 1, 1992

The Sea Eagles opened their season under Coach Graham Lowe with a 28-22 win over the Gold Coast Seagulls.

A Sunday afternoon crowd of over 10,000 saw tries to Martin Bella, Owen Cunningham, Kevin Iro and John Jones. Matthew Ridge kicked six from seven goals.

Rd 2, 1998

Remember the Adelaide Rams?

It wasn’t a pleasant result for the South Australian team with the Sea Eagles winning 22-8 at Brookvale Oval.

Manly centre Terry Hill scored two tries in the win while full-back Luke Phillips scored a try and kicked three from four goals.
