One of Manly’s greatest ever players, Graham Eadie, needs our help.

A true Sea Eagles legend, Eadie is the greatest point scorer in the history of the club (1917 points).

He won four premierships in the ’70s (1972,1973,1976,1978) and is arguably the greatest fullback to play for the club.

Eadie, now 65, isn’t in good health and requires a heart operation.

He has also fallen on hard times and needs the help of the Manly Sea Eagles, the Golden Eagles, the  Men of League, and supporters of the mighty maroon and white.

A group of ex-club greats on the Gold Coast are arranging several fundraising events to support Eadie and his wife.

Manly’s Godfather Ken Arthurson, legendary coach Frank Stanton, and former Test forward John “Pogo” Morgan are right in Wombat’s corner in his hour of need.

Upcoming functions have been arranged for:

  • May 17 - luncheon at the Kirra Beach Hotel, Coolangatta, Qld
  • August 23 - Queensland Golden Eagles reunion and luncheon at Burleigh Bears Leagues Club.

It is fitting that Arthurson, as the club secretary who signed Eadie as an unknown 18-year-old from Woy Woy, and Stanton, his coach in two premierships (1976 and 1978), remain solidly behind Eadie almost 50 years after he made his debut for the club.

It is what the spirit of the Sea Eagles is famous for. In times of trouble, we stick and that is going to be the situation with Eadie.

Frank Stanton has been appointed to control and disperse all funds raised for Eadie to make his life more comfortable.
