Taupau gets one over his team-mates in Test win

Manly-Warringah prop Martin Taupau got one up on three of his Sea Eagles team-mates in Auckland tonight.

Playing his 22nd Test match for New Zealand, Taupau was on the winning team with New Zealand beating the Australian Kangaroos 26-24 at Mt Smart Stadium.

The game saw Manly half-back Daly Cherry-Evans play his 12th Test for Australia and his first since 2014.

It was also the first time brothers Jake and Tom Trbojevic have played a Test match together. Jake has now played four Tests and Tom, three Tests, for Australia.

Tom Trbojevic denied the Kiwis a try in the 15th minute when good defensive pressure saw the winger put the ball down on the touch line in attempting to score.

A nice pass from Cherry-Evans to Tom Trbojevic saw him race 40 metres before sending winger Dane Gagai over untouched for Australia's second try in the 39th minute to give the Kangaroos a 12-8 lead at half-time.

The Kiwis scored some fine tries in the second half to take victory despite a late rally by the Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos now take on Tonga at Mt Smart Stadium next Saturday night. Manly prop Addin Fonua-Blake is in the Tongan squad.

Taupau and his Kiwi team-mates will now prepare for a three-match Test series against England in England from October 27.
