Manly lose 36-6 to Eels in SG Ball Cup

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles suffered a 36-6 loss to Parramatta Eels at New Era Stadium today in round two of the SG Ball Cup competition.

The Eels dominated the opening 15 minute to lead 16-0 through tries to prop Stefano Utoikamanu, second-rower Matt Doorey and winger Tyler Tuigamala. Hooker Kyle Schneider converted two of the tries.

Manly opened their account when five-eighth Joshua Schuster picked up a loose ball to race 70 metres to beat the defence to score next to the posts. Second-rower Joshua Fepuleai converted for a 16-6 scoreline with 12 minutes remaining.

The remainder of the second half featured some big hits with Schuster and Manly prop Keith Titmuss leading the way for Manly.

Second Half

Parramatta extended their lead to 20-6 two minutes after half-time when centre Peter Tevaga broke through a tackle to score in the corner after the ball was spread right. Schneider converted from the sideline for a 22-6 lead.

The home side went further ahead through tries to second-rower Charbel Tasipale and full-back JP Nohra for a 32-6 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Doorey scored his second try with two minutes remaining for the 36-6 scoreline.
