Wolfie's Howlers was proud to welcome a special guest Josh McCulloch and his mum Janet to our Round 3 game against the Parramatta Eels at The Fortress.

Josh’s story was highlighted to our Community department after a terrible accident that occurred at his school, Tamworth High.

Josh is currently in Year 8 and was involved in a science experiment that went terribly wrong in which a fireball shot across his desk and engulfed Josh in flames.

Remarkably Josh remembered a talk by the NSW Fire Brigade back in Year 2 that explained in a situation like he was in at that moment to drop and roll, this action saved Josh from life threatening injuries he could have sustained.

Josh received burns to his back and one side of his face and was airlifted by air ambulance to Westmead Children’s Hospital where he has been undergoing surgery and extensive skin grafts on his back and face.

The smile on his face upon arrival at the Oval was clear to see to everyone that his visit to the game and meeting his idols was something that was going to be etched in his memory for a long time!

Now back at home in Tamworth recovering, we would all like to wish Josh the best of luck on his long road to recovery and hopefully see him at some of our future games – GOOD LUCK JOSH!
