Jake Trbojevic appointed Co-captain at Manly

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles lock Jake Trbojevic will join brother Tom as co-captain of the Club.

Jake, who recently celebrated his 250th game for the Sea Eagles, has done a terrific job as team captain over the past couple of months while Tom has been sidelined through injury.

The team has won five of seven games during this period with Jake as captain, and eight of the past 10 games with Kieran Foran as coach, climbing into the top-four on the ladder.

Tom, who was appointed team captain at the start of the 2026 pre-season, is expected to make his return against the Bulldogs next weekend. When he does, he’ll have Jake alongside him as co-captain.

Haumole Olakau’atu will now be the team’s sole vice-captain and will continue to play an important leadership role for the Club.

Foran says the decision to appoint Jake as co-captain is for the good of the team.

“Tom and Jake are the natural leaders of this group, and it makes sense to have them as co-captains.

Jake has done an amazing job in Tom’s absence and we knew he would.

"He stepped up when the team needed him. That’s what leaders do.

“Haumole has also been wonderful this year, not only in his performances but also in the leadership he brings to the group.

“Right now, what’s best for the team is to have both Tom and Jake sharing the captaincy, supported by Haumole as vice-captain.  It’s a pretty straightforward decision to be honest.

“We are lucky as a group to have two legends of the Club leading the way.”

Jake says he’s honoured to join Tom in the senior leadership role.

“I’ve just loved the past few months, and I’ll do whatever is best for the team,” said Jake.

“If Foz and Tom want this, then I’m all in.

Leading this amazing group of players, and playing for this great Club, is a privilege.
