In our 80th Anniversary season, we head down memory lane to look at the history between the Sea Eagles and the Wests Tigers ahead of Saturday’s match in Brisbane.

The Magic Round match will mark the 40th contest between the Sea Eagles and the Wests Tigers since 2003.

The Sea Eagles have a good history against the Wests Tigers, winning 23 of the 39 games played.

Biggest winning margin

An incredible 42 points on a memorable Friday night in 2023.

The Sea Eagles ran in a massive 10 tries in a 54-12 win at 4 Pines Park, with Jason Saab and Tolu Koula destroying the Tigers with two tries each.

The 54 points stands as the current record for most points in a match while the 10 tries remains the record for most tries in a match between the clubs.

Most goals scored in a match

Brett Hodgson holds this record with eight goals from the Tigers’ premiership winning year in 2005.

Manly’s Ben Walker (2003) and Jamie Lyon (2010) share the record for the Sea Eagles with seven goals each.

Most individual points scored in a match

The great Jamie Lyon ripped the Wests Tigers apart in a 22-point haul at Gosford in 2010.

Lyon crossed for two tries and kicked a perfect 7/7 goals in a 38-20 win.

What a player and captain ‘Killer’ was for the Sea Eagles!

Most tries scored in a match

Six players share the record of three tries each in a match with four of those players coming from Manly.

The record holders are Ben Kennedy (2005), Brett Stewart (2009), James Tedesco (2016), David Nofoaluma (2020), Morgan Harper (2021) and Tom Trbojevic (2024).

No one stands out on that list more than Stewart, with the ‘Prince of Brookvale’ crossing for 13 tries in 17 games against Wests Tigers.

Long live the ‘Snake’.

Longest Winning Streak

Manly enjoyed an incredible run of six wins in a row against the Wests Tigers from April 25, 2021, to September 1, 2023.

The biggest win during that streak was the 42-point margin in the 54-12 win in 2023.
