Head-to-Head
The two clubs have met 38 times since the Cowboys entered the NRL in 1995, with Manly winning 23 of the games played.
In Townsville
The Sea Eagles have fared well in the tropical conditions of North Queensland, winning 12 of the 20 matches played in Townsville.
The news is even better for Manly at the Cowboys’ current home ground, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with the Sea Eagles winning all four matches played against the Cowboys since their new stadium opened in 2020.
NRL Finals
The two clubs have met three times in the Telstra Premiership finals series, with Manly being successful in each of them.
The biggest finals win of all three came in the 2011 premiership winning year, with a 42-8 win at the old Sydney Football Stadium. Brett Stewart, the wonderful ‘Prince of Brookvale’, scored two tries alongside winger William Hopoate.
Biggest winning margin
Manly’s biggest ever winning margin against the Cowboys is 42, set in 1996.
The Sea Eagles ran in nine tries in a 46-4 victory at Brookvale Oval with former Queensland and premiership-winning centre Danny Moore crossing for a hat-trick.
Furthermore, the Sea Eagles hold all top 10 places for the biggest winning margin between the two clubs with the lowest being 20, highlighting again the dominance of the Sea Eagles over the Cowboys over the years.
Most points scored in a match
The Sea Eagles hold eight of the top 10 places for most points scored in a match between the two clubs.
The record stands at 50, set in 2021 at 4 Pines Park, with the Sea Eagles running in nine tries in a 50-18 win on a Friday night in June.
Current Manly enforcer Haumole Olakau’atu scored two tries as did former Manly centre and local junior, Brad Parker, who is now doing a fine job as an assistant coach of Manly’s SG Ball team.
New interim coach Kieran Foran also scored in that epic win.

The Sea Eagles have scored nine tries twice in a match against the Cowboys.
The first was Danny Moore’s hat-trick at Brookvale in the 46-4 victory in 1996. The second was the 50-18 win in 2021 with Olakau’atu and Parker scoring twice.

Enter Reuben Garrick! Three times ‘Gaz’ has scored 18 points against the Cowboys to sit on top.
Garrick achieved the feat twice in 2021, the first being in the Round 14 record-margin victory at 4 Pines Park, and the second was in Round 25 at Queensland Country Bank stadium Garrick’s efforts earned Manly the 2021 NRL Try of the Year award.
2021 Try of The Year: Round 25 vs Cowboys
Leading by 22 points at the full-time siren, Garrick got the ball from his in-goal on the last play to advance to half-way before finding Daly Cherry-Evans, who put a grubber through for Tom Trbojevic to pounce on for his hat-trick. Garrick scored a try and kicked seven goals.
The third 18-points-haul came in the opening round of the 2025 season in Manly’s 42-12 win at 4 Pines Park. Once again Gaz scored a try and kicked seven goals.
