Vale George Hugo

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player George Hugo.

Sea Eagle #75, Hugo has passed away at the age of 93.

A powerful winger, George played 99 first-grade games for Manly between 1952 and 1963, including two Grand Finals against St George in 1957 and 1959.

A proud Manly junior from Harbord, George was part of the Sea Eagles’ first-ever Grand Final victory, winning the third-grade premiership in 1952, followed by a reserve-grade Grand Final win in 1954.

George's passing marks a sad departure of a Sea Eagles stalwart through the early chapters of a young rugby league club.

The Sea Eagles extend their sincere condolences to George’s wife Sandra, his children Kim, John, Anna and Glen, and to his extended family and friends.
