Match Preview: NRL Round 10 vs Sharks

Sea Eagles fans will be hoping ‘fresh is best’ on Mother’s Day when their team tackles Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at 4 Pines Park.

Manly enters this match after an extended break that included the bye in last weekend’s Magic Round.

With 14 days between their Round 8 victory over the Panthers and Sunday’s visit by the Sharks, the team has had plenty of time to recharge and prepare.

The long layoff is in stark contrast to when these teams last met, just four weeks ago in Perth.  That match, which Manly lost 24-18, was one of three games in a 12-day period.

The Sharks historically have not performed well against the Sea Eagles, but they have fared quite well in recent years.

While Manly have won 39 of the 49 matches when played at Brookvale, the Sharks have won five of the past six matches between these two clubs.

In team news Manly welcomes back Jake Trbojevic (HIA protocol) and Jason Saab. Trbojevic has been named at prop with Jazz Tevaga holding his spot at lock and Jake Simpkin retained at hooker.

The Sharks have made just the one change to the side that beat the Eels at Magic Round with Daniel Atkinson joining the bench in place of Siosifa Talakai (concussion).

With Sunday’s Women in League Round match falling on Mother’s Day, there’ll be plenty happening around the ground to celebrate the occasion.

And remember, whether buying flowers for Mum, or searching for a winning return to Brookie, ‘fresh is best’.
