Blacktown Workers Coach Wayne Lambkin is keen to see what the bounce back factor will be from his team this Sunday against Parramatta following a very disappointing performance last week.
The Sea Eagles were blown off the park in a 34-12 loss to the Sydney Roosters with both teams fielding very strong teams in the round 2 Knock On NSW Effect Cup match at 4 Pines Park.
The Roosters ran in six tries to two after leading 16-0 at half-time with second-rower Brad Parker and winger Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega crossing for tries for Blacktown Workers.
“The players recognised the areas we were poor in such as controlling the footy and being better defensively,’’ Lambkin said.
“We addressed those things as of yesterday (Wednesday) with our first session back on the field.
“It is easy to reflect back and say we were flat but we have got to find the reason why we were flat.
“We came off a win the week before and we had everything to play for here at home on a Sunday afternoon in front of a good crowd.
“We had a good team, we had plenty of weapons in our team as they did, but we didn’t fire too many shots.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the response from the players.”
Despite the poor result, Lambkin said he was pleased with the performances of full-back Bailey Hodgson and lock Dean Matterson.
“I thought Bailey backed up his first game against Souths with another good performance. Dean Matterson was excellent in his effort areas,’’ Lambkin added.
Blacktown Workers play the winless Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium on Sunday, March 24, at 1.35pm in the curtain raiser to the NRL game.
Hooker Jamie Humphreys will miss the game after picking up a left hip pointer injury against the Roosters. He is expected to be available for selection in round four.
