The strength and unity of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles was clearly on show at the inaugural Pathways combined training session.
More than 270 male and female players from U16s through to open age came together at the Sydney Academy of Sport last Saturday for a fun session prior to the Christmas break. Close to 50 per cent of the players are from the local Manly District Junior Rugby League.
Former Manly stars such as Geoff Toovey, Matt Orford, Brett Stewart, and Anthony Watmough – who are all now involved in the Sea Eagles Pathways program – were joined by current Sea Eagles players Jake, Tom and Ben Trbojevic, Reuben Garrick, Brad Parker, Lachlan Croker, and Corey Waddell to name a few.

Tim Gee, Manly’s Athlete Wellbeing and Education Manager, said the event helped re-stablish connection of the Pathways teams with the local community as well as the NRL team.
“It was a very positive day for the club in connecting all pathways teams, coaches and support staff,’’ Gee said.
“The day was about connecting the club from top to bottom. This was evident with the attendance of 10 NRL players who enjoyed giving up their time to share their experience and knowledge, ensuring the junior players can see a true pathway through to the NRL system.

“We will now make this event a permanent fixture on our annual calendar moving forward.”
