Sea Eagles crush Dragons in Jersey Flegg

A double in the first 10 minutes to winger Blake Metcalf set the tone as the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles trampled over the St George Illawarra Dragons 48-6 at 4 Pines Park on Saturday in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

The Sea Eagles showed no mercy in putting the Dragons to the sword, running in 10 tries to one. 

Metcalf and second rower Iverson Mapu-Satiu both grabbed a double to go along with tries from forwards Kylan Mafoa, Max Hayley, Caleb Navale, and Devante Mihinui, winger Cameron Brown and five-eighth Harradyn Wilson.

Metcalf showed off his footwork and strength beating his opposite number to score next to the uprights untouched for an early 6-0 lead.  
 
He then grabbed his second after second-rower Mapu-Satiu barged through the line creating an intense foot race with Metcalfe the victor for a 10-0 lead.

Mofoa found himself in open space after a glistening short ball cut the Dragons defence to shreds to score in the corner for a 16-0 lead.

With four minutes remaining in the first half, Manly's spine linked up to give centre Koby Douglas some attacking ball on the Dragons line. He opted to take on the line before Douglas showed his strength to beat four defenders to send Max Hayley over for an impressive 20-0 lead at half-time.

The Sea Eagles came out firing in the second half forcing an error off the kick off, leading to a try to Cameron Brown for a 24-0 lead.

The flood gates then opened with Harradyn Wilson, Caleb Navale, Iverson Mapu-Satiu, and Devante Mihinui all scoring for the Sea Eagles for a 48-6 victory.

Manly play the Bulldogs in the final round at Belmore Sports Ground on Friday, August 25 at 7pm.
