Sea Eagles up for Roosters challenge in Flegg

The exciting challenge of taking on competition leaders Sydney Roosters is a motivating factor for the Manly Warirngah Sea Eagles in the Jersey Flegg Cup this Sunday.

With four rounds remaining, the Roosters sit on top of the ladder on 37 points with the Sea Eagles in eighth position on 22 points, two points behind the fifth-placed Melbourne Storm. The top five teams contest the finals.

Following the Roosters match, the Sea Eagles have a very tough run home, taking on Penrith (third), the Dragons (sixth) and the Bulldogs (second) away.

The Sea Eagles kept their faint finals hopes alive with an impressive 32-16 win over St George-Illawarra Dragons in Shellharbour on Saturday.

Manly ran in five tries to three to finish strongly after overcoming an early 10-0 deficit to lead 20-10 at half-time.

It was a vast improvement from the Sea Eagles after they let slip a good chance to move up the ladder with a 22-16 loss to the fourth-placed Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Pointsbet Stadium the week before.

The Roosters match will be played at Wentworth Park, Glebe, on Sunday, August 6. Kick-off 12.15pm. See the Sea Eagles team here
