Passion...Joshua Weightman celebrates his try against Wests

Some promising young talent has been shining brightly for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the Harold Matthews Cup this season.

In what has been a difficult season to date, the Sea Eagles have used 10 players who are still eligible to play Harold Mathews in 2024, with most of them not yet 16 years of age.

“I’m proud that we have been able to blood so many younger players into our side who will learn a lot from this experience,’’ said Coach Jay Younis.

“There is some great young talent in NSW Schoolboy representatives Reilly Caswell, Simon Sisifa , Lisiate McKay-Filihia, Pheonix Tuala and William Leha in particular.

“They have played in every game (unless injured) and have certainly thrived in their positions.

“Simione Laiafi and Benji O’Keefe have also been standouts for the team this year.

“We may not see the results of these standards we are driving home this season, but we are comfortable knowing that moving forward, every player we have in our squads are on the same page."

The Sea Eagles now tackle the Eels at Brookvale Oval on Saturday, March 18, at 1pm.
