Reuben Garrick within striking range of more club records

Prolific points scoring winger Reuben Garrick is within striking range of reaching more Club records for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.

The 24-year-old needs just two more points to pass 200 in 2021 to have his name placed in Manly’s top 10 list of players for most points in a season. He also needs just 10 points to become the 13th player for Manly to break 500 points for the club.

New Zealand international Matthew Ridge holds the club record for most points in a season with 257 set in 1995. The champion full-back also scored 234 points in the 1994 season.

For Garrick, the current leading points scorer in this year’s Telstra Premiership, the first record within reach is that of legendary full-back Graham Eadie, who recorded 216 points in the 1974 season.

Eadie – a four-time premiership winner - also scored 226 points and 233 points in the 1983 and 1976 seasons respectively to be the only Manly player to have his name three times on the most points in a season list.

In 1983, rugby league tries went from three points to four points.

With 60 NRL matches and a new two-year-deal behind him to the end of 2023, Garrick could certainly make a big impact on the top 10 list.

Already this season, Garrick entered the record books in becoming the 19th player out of 631 Sea Eagles players to score four tries in a match following the 56-24 win over the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium on June 20.

The following round saw Garrick equal the club records of Ron Rowles (1954) and Ridge (1996) for most points in a match with 30 in the 66-0 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Bankwest Stadium on July 3.

Furthermore, he equalled the Club records of Mike Eden and Matthew Ridge with 11 goals in the win.

From 17 matches this season, Garrick has registered 198 points through 14 tries and 71 goals, the most so far in his career at Manly with seven regular rounds remaining.

In 2019, Garrick recorded 194 points from 16 tries and 65 goals in 26 matches for Manly in a superb NRL debut season in 2019.

Last year, Garrick registered 98 points from four tries and 41 goals in 17 games.
