Sea Eagles get first look at Mudgee venue

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles has had its first look at the superb Glen Willow Sporting Complex in Mudgee ahead of their home game in 2021.

The Sea Eagles will play the Gold Coast Titans at the Glen Willow Sporting Complex on Saturday, April 17, at 3pm.

Sea Eagles CEO Stephen Humphreys visited the facility in Mudgee on Friday along with Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders, who is chair of the NRL regional taskforce, and Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor Des Kennedy.

A beautiful country town, Mudgee is a wonderful destination known for its superb food and wine, museums, galleries, markets, and historic buildings.

Completed in February 2012 and owned by Mid-Western Regional Council, Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex is a 10,000 capacity stadium with a 1000 seat undercover grandstand and raised grassed mounds surrounding the main field.

As the region’s premier sporting venue, Glen Willow has hosted a number of major events including NRL premiership matches in 2013, 2018 and 2019.

Manly chief executive Stephen Humphreys said the council really sold the event to the Sea Eagles club.

“It was their enthusiasm for this event and the determination to make it happen, that in the end for us was simply irresistible – we had to do it,’’ Humphreys said.

“The facility at Glen Willow Stadium is wonderful for rugby league. It is superb. Our Members and supporters are going to enjoy it very much.

“We can’t wait to come to Mudgee. I encourage as many Manly Members and supporters to make the trip and enjoy not only the match, but this wonderful town especially after what regional towns went through this year with COVID-19.”

Mid-Western Regional Council mayor Des Kennedy said he is confident Mudgee will once again shine.

“It’s fantastic to welcome the Sea Eagles and their fans to our region,” he said.

“We look forward to working with the club and the NRL to ensure a great country game day experience for fans.”

Tickets for the Sea Eagles vs Titans match in Mudgee will go on sale in February with Manly members getting first exclusive access.
