Avid Manly Warringah Sea Eagles fan Kenneth Walters has plenty of reasons to celebrate this week.
Last Monday, Kenneth turned 100 years of age and has another big milestone awaiting this Saturday when he and wife, Joan, celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary.
And on top of that, Kenneth’s beloved Sea Eagles are giving him plenty of joy this season, which was evident to see today when Manly Sea Eagles Immortal Bob Fulton made a special visit to the couple in Kellyville.
Bob, the ‘vice-captain’ of the very successful and long running 2GB Continuous Call show, headed to the Gracewood Aged Care Centre with the 2GB team to meet up with Kenneth and Joan after their grandson, Chris Dogao, contacted the station to inform them of the special milestones this week.
As part of his visit, Bob presented Kenneth and Joan with Sea Eagles merchandise for them to proudly wear around the aged care centre.
Kenneth and Joan lived on the Northern Beaches for more than 75 years before recently moving to Kellyville.
Throughout their time on the Northern Beaches, the couple became avid followers of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles after they entered the NSWRL first grade competition in 1947.
“Bob and my grandparents spoked very much about their life and times on the Northern Beaches,’’ Chris said.
“Kenneth and Joan greatly appreciated the Sea Eagles gear from the club. Bob also signed one of the caps for Kenneth to remember this day by.
“On behalf of our family, we thank 2GB, Bob Fulton, and the Sea Eagles for making this day special for Kenneth and Joan.”
