Weekes scores a double in loss to Wests

A shock 28-26 loss to Western Suburbs Magpies has seen Manly Warringah Sea Eagles slip down the NSWRL SG Ball Cup ladder.

The Sea Eagles led 14-6 at half-time but the Magpies scored 22 points in the second half to claim victory at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides scored five tries each with the win being just the second victory of the season for the Magpies.

The Sea Eagles now sit in fourth place with four wins, a draw, and a loss from six matches.

Manly full-back Kaeo Weekes (pictured) scored two tries with centre Ben Trbojevic, half-back Jamie Lawler, and prop Christian Wihongi also crossing for tries for the Sea Eagles.

Hooker Jack Birt kicked two goals and winger Uluaki Tuipulotu one in the loss for Manly.

“Wests played really well and controlled the ball. We have got some areas to work on in the next few weeks,’’ said Sea Eagles Coach Brett Fulton (pictured)

“It was a disappointing performance and we are looking forward to getting back out there against the Sydney Roosters this Saturday.”

Manly play the Sydney Roosters in a home game at HE Laybutt Field, Blacktown, on Saturday, March 23, at 11am.
