A strong second half performance saw the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles overcome the Canterbury Bulldogs in the SG Ball Cup on Saturday.

Two tries and a goal saw the Bulldogs lead 10-0 at half-time before the Sea Eagles rallied in the second half to run out 22-10 winners at Belmore Oval in round five.

Second half tries to Ben Trbojevic, James Uesele, Josh Schuster and Jamie Lawler and goals to Jack Birt (2) and Tapu Tuipulotu saw the Sea Eagles pile on 22 unanswered points to remain on top of the ladder.

Manly Coach Brett Fulton was pretty pleased with the overall effort.

“The Bulldogs are a big side and they certainly challenged us in the first half,’’ Fulton said.

“Fortunately we managed the second half well to grind out the win.

“Jamie Lawler (pictured above), Jonah Palota-Kopa, Sione Fainu, and Alec Tuitavake all had strong running games. Sione was again very powerful for us and has been one of our most consistent players in the past few weeks.”

The Sea Eagles play Western Suburbs Magpies at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday, March 16, at 1.30pm.
