Manly record second win in Jersey Flegg

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles recorded a convincing 34-10 victory over the Sydney Roosters at Berkeley Oval today in round seven of the NSWRL Jersey Flegg competition.

It was the Sea Eagles' second win of the season following on from their maiden victory over the Warriors in Auckland last Saturday.

The Roosters opened the scoring in the second minute through a try to five-eighth Thomas Steadman. Half-back Sean O'Sullivan converted the try for a 6-0 lead.

The home side went to a 10-0 lead when centre Billy Smith crossed for a try before the Sea Eagles hit back with a try to five-eighth Luke Metcalf.


Manly hit back with a try to winger Bilal Maarbani crashed over in the left corner. Full-back Tevita Funa converted for a 10-6 scoreline.

The Sea Eagles took the lead when five-eighth Luke Metcalf crossed from 10 metres out. Funa converted for a 12-10 lead.

A powerful run from prop Keith Titmuss saw him crash through the defence to score next to the posts. Funa converted for an 18-10 lead.

The Sea Eagles then went further ahead when prop Michael Fenn used his strength to score next to the posts. Funa converted for a 24-10 lead with 22 minutes remaining.

Metcalf scored his second try with 14 minutes remaining when he raced 60 metres to score under the posts. Funa converted for a 30-10 lead.

The Sea Eagles secured victory when winger Bilal Maarbani produced a spectacular dive to score in the left corner for a 34-10 lead.
