Still hated after all these years, the Sea Eagles wouldn’t have it any other way, according to front-rower Brenton Lawrence.

It’s only his second season at the club, but he has already embraced the enmity that comes with donning the maroon and white.

"I think there is a bit of a rivalry with every club," Lawrence said.

"Everyone seems to want to beat Manly. We always want to beat Parramatta and this week’s no exception.

"There is something weird about it, it’s uplifting. It’s something that you want to disapprove. Everyone seems to have that gripe against Manly.

"One of the best signs in the crowd is that “GUESS WHAT? MANLY HATES YOU TOO!!!”

"It’s a good rivalry to have and it’s a bit of fun."
