Wakeham locks in new deal at Manly

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are delighted to announce a two-year contract extension for highly rated utility Brandon Wakeham.

Wakeham’s new deal will keep him in maroon and white until at least the end of the 2028 season.

The 27-year-old was in career-best form in 2026, making his first NRL appearance for the Sea Eagles in Round 2 after joining the Club in 2024.

Although playing mostly in the halves in recent years, Wakeham started at hooker in fourteen of his 17 NRL appearances in 2026, establishing himself as an important member of the Sea Eagles squad.

He has continued that good form on the international stage in recent weeks, performing exceptionally well in the No.7 jersey for Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup.

Sea Eagles Head Coach Kieran Foran says Wakeham thoroughly deserves his new deal.

“Brandon is the type of player every coach wants in their squad," Foran said.

His work ethic is outstanding, his attitude is first-class and he is incredibly tough and resilient.

“He has shown tremendous persistence to establish himself in the NRL and I believe his best years are ahead of him.

“Brandon is an incredibly talented halfback as we know, and he did an excellent job for the team last season adapting to a new role in the middle.

“I think he’s been exceptional for Fiji in the World Cup, and we are really pleased that he will remain part of the Sea Eagles for the next two seasons.”

Wakeham says he is thrilled to have secured his future at Manly and is grateful for the opportunity.

“I’m really happy to be with the Sea Eagles for at least the next couple of years,” Wakeham said.

I am really enjoying my football at the moment, and I love being a part of this Club.

“I want to continue developing my game and hopefully I can achieve some special moments with Manly over the next couple of years.”

Wakeham will again line up at halfback for Fiji on Saturday when the Bati take on New Zealand in the final qualifying round of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.

Early Bird pricing for 2027 Membership expires October 31, 2026.
