Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are proud to reveal our 2026 NRL Indigenous Round jersey.
Designed by Chantelle Nettleton, a Gamilaroi artist from Collarenebri who now calls the Northern Beaches home, the jersey honours the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and the sandstone landscapes of the Northern Beaches, a place that has been home to Aboriginal people for thousands of years and remains so today.
The artwork draws from the colours, patterns, engravings, and grinding grooves found in the sandstone, weaving these elements together to pay respect to Country and its history.
The design celebrates our greatest former Indigenous player, Cliff Lyons, alongside current Indigenous player Jamal Fogarty and his family, intertwining the past, present, and future of Indigenous legacy on the Northern Beaches.
Design Symbolism
- Wedge-tailed Eagles, representing Jamal Fogarty and his family's totem.
- Sea Eagles legend Cliff Lyons Totem, the Lizard/Goanna totem
- Sandstone Pattern: Patterns that you will see right across the Northern Beaches in the sandstone
- Middens: The dots represent shell middens, mounds formed over hundreds or thousands of years that contain shellfish remains, animal bones and teeth, charcoal, clay, and stone tools.
- Grinding grooves and meeting place: Passing knowledge from Old People to Young People is a vital part of Culture. This often occurred during axe grinding, where hours spent sharpening tools also created time to share stories, skills, and teachings.
- New Tracks: New tracks being formed through Country by our past and current Indigenous players.
- Totems: The front of the jersey features four Wedgetail Eagles, with the larger eagle representing Jamal Fogarty protecting three smaller eagles symbolising his children. The back showcases club legend Cliff Lyons’ totem, the Lizard.
- Connected by water: The Northern Beaches are rich in salt and freshwater sources, which were central to culture and daily life, bringing clans and community together.
