An ANZAC Round to remember

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are preparing for an ANZAC Round match to remember when they take on the Parramatta Eels at 4 Pines Park on Sunday 26th April.

Sunday arvo. Manly & Parra. ANZAC Round. Three Straight. Public Holiday. 1976 Premiership. 50 Years on. Back at Brookie.

Little wonder the game is now a sellout.

A full house at 4 Pines Park will come together to honour and remember the brave servicemen and women who have served our nation with courage and sacrifice.

Much more than just a game, it’s a moment to reflect, to remember, and to show our gratitude as a community. Lest we forget.

The official ANZAC Ceremony before kick-off on Sunday will provide us all with the opportunity to unite, to remember, and to honour.  It will be a solemn and powerful moment for all in attendance.

The Sea Eagles will also honour the ANZAC tradition in the buildup to the Round 8 match against the Eels, laying a wreath on behalf of the Club at the Dee Why Dawn Service, and visiting our local War Veteran’s Village during the week.

The players will wear a commemorative ANZAC Round jersey against the Eels, the design of which is inspired by Steve Menzies’ grandfather, Malcolm Campbell. ‘Mackie’ served in the Royal Australian Air Force and played in Manly’s very first match at Brookvale in 1947.

The match against Parramatta is also a time to reflect on Manly’s premiership success in 1976, 50 years after beating the Eels to claim the Club’s third premiership title.

Attending the game as special guests of the Club will be a number of players from Manly’s 1976 premiership-winning team including Max Krilich, Russell Gartner, Rod Jackson, Alan Thompson, and Mark Willoughby.
