Match Preview: NRL Round 6 vs Dragons

The Sea Eagles go into Friday’s match against the Dragons hoping to build on a very good performance in Redcliffe in Round 5.

‘Very good’ is probably an understatement given the circumstances. For Manly it was a beautiful way to cap a tumultuous week with a tremendous victory.

But time to move on.

Friday night will pose another challenge for new coach Kieran Foran and the team, against a desperate Dragons side which is under the blowtorch after being without a win through five rounds.

For the record, it’s the first time in the Dragons’ joint-venture history they have started a season 0-5.

Safe to say if Manly can replicate the same energy, enthusiasm, and commitment that we saw against the Dolphins, they should be a match for any team.

While Manly’s record in Wollongong is not great, the Sea Eagles did enjoy a comfortable victory in their last meeting against the Dragons, 40-26 at Kogarah last year.

It was at Kogarah last weekend where the Dragons were beaten 32-0 by the Cowboys, in stark contrast to the Sea Eagles’ 52-18 romp at Redcliffe.

In team news just the one change for Manly with Jason Saab returning from a one-week suspension to replace Clayton Faulalo on the wing.

For the Dragons Tyrell Sloan replaces Clint Gutherson (hamstring) at fullback, Setu Tu returns on the wing in place of David Fale (suspended), and Kyle Flanagan returns from concussion and shifts to halfback with Dan Atkinson moving to five-eighth.
