Team List: Pre-season Challenge vs Warriors

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have named a squad of 20 players for Saturday’s Pre-season Challenge match against the Warriors in New Zealand.

The young and inexperienced group includes eight teenagers and five part-timers with the majority of players drawn from outside the Club’s top 30 roster.

Two of those teens will be directing play with Joey Walsh (19) and Onitoni Large (18) lining up in the halves.

For Large, and centre Andes Johannson, it will be their second match in New Zealand inside six days after featuring in Manly’s win over the Warriors in the opening round of the SG Ball Cup last weekend.

The team’s two most experienced NRL players, Corey Waddell and Brandon Wakeham, have been named co-captains.

Head Coach Anthony Seibold will remain in Sydney with the majority of his top 30 squad, handing the coaching duties in Napier to his assistants, with Jon Clarke to take charge and Kieran Foran to assist.

Although a young team with an average age of 21, Clarke says it’s a great opportunity for this group of players.

“Here is a chance for these young men to make the most of this experience,” said Clarke.

“We want to see how they handle playing at this level with a view to potentially pushing for an NRL spot through the season.”
