
Manly Warringah Sea Eagles were no match for a dominant Wests Tigers side, going down 58-10 in round 15 of the Jersey Flegg Cup on Saturday afternoon at Lidcombe Oval.
Manly only managed one try in each half, with their opponents running rampant scoring 11 tries.
Errors and poor discipline proved costly for the Sea Eagles, with the Tigers picking up the scraps to pile the points on the board for a 48-point victory.
The home side shot out of the gates quickly with two tries in the opening ten minutes for an early 10-0 lead.
Manly hit back in the 17th minute off the back of a strong run by Zachary Karam. The winger stepped around the defence on the edge before tucking his ears back and bursting through three defenders to score for a 10-6 scoreline.
The Tigers regained control with their third try of the match seven minutes later to Solomone Saukuru, pushing their lead out to 16-6.
Sea Eagles’ hooker Zaidas Muagututia was sent to the sin-bin in the 30th minute, allowing for the home side to take advantage.
Tigers’ utility Josese Lanyon scored two tries in the 34th and 37th minute for a 28-6 lead at half-time.
The home side scored six second-half tries for a 58-6 scoreline.
Manly scored a consolation try on the stroke of full-time. Second-rower Kurt Fisher scooped up a loose ball deep in his own half before racing 80 metres downfield to score for a final score of 58-10.
The Sea Eagles travel to Homebush to take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs in round 16 of the Jersey Flegg Cup. Kick-off is at 3:25pm on Saturday June 21 at Accor Stadium.
