
Manly Warringah Sea Eagles halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has been named captain of the Queensland Maroons for Game I of this year’s State of Origin series.

This will be Cherry-Evans’ eleventh Origin series having captained the Maroons on 18 occasions to three series victories (2020, 2022, 2023).

DCE will be joined in the halves by Cameron Munster, who missed last year’s series through injury.
Maroons coach Billy Slater named three newcomers in his squad for Origin I with Robert Toia (Sydney Roosters), Beau Fermor (Gold Coast Titans) and Trent Loiero (Melbourne Storm) earning their debut Origin jerseys.
