Origin One: Olakau’atu named in NSW squad

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles forward Haumole Olakau’atu has been included in the extended squad for NSW for Game 1 of this year’s State of Origin series.

The destructive right-edge forward has shown consistently strong form through the opening 11 rounds of the NRL season, starting every game for Manly.

The 26-year-old made his Origin debut for the Blues in last year’s series, playing in games one and two, before being left out of the squad for the series decider.

Coach Laurie Daley has named one debutant in his 20-man squad for the opening game of the 2025 Ampol State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday 28 May.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs prop Max King, 28, has been named to make his debut on the bench.

Penrith Panthers and Australian captain Isaah Yeo will become the 22nd player to lead the Blues, with Daley selecting him as NSW skipper for the first time.

The 20-man squad includes three emergencies, with Campbell Graham (South Sydney Rabbitohs) joining Stefano Utoikamanu (Melbourne Storm) and Haumole Olakau’atu (Manly Warringah Sea Eagles).
