Pathways Preview: 07/03/25

It's the first round for the Sea Eagles senior representative sides as the junior pathways teams head into Round 6.

Harold Matthews Cup (U17s)

The Sea Eagles are sitting second on the ladder heading into Round 6 and are gunning for a fourth straight win when they meet the Knights in Port Stephens on Saturday.

Just a couple of changes to the side after an impressive last start win over the Rabbitohs.

Jack Kalms will start at fullback after scoring two tries off the bench last weekend.

SG Ball Cup (U19s)

It was a much-improved performance against the Raiders last weekend from our Under 19s who go into Saturday’s match against the Knights desperate to avoid a fifth straight loss.

An ankle injury to Keoki Koraba sees Max Davies shift from five-eighth to centre, with Jackson Cahill-Smith elevated into the halves alongside Tyler Melrose.

A couple of changes in the forwards as well with Matthew Crossingham replacing Hugo Hart (ankle) in the second row, and prop Simione Laiafi named in the starting side.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (U17s)

The Sea Eagles take on the Bears this weekend in the Lisa Fiaola Cup with both teams still searching for their first win of the season.

Despite the lopsided score line in last weekend’s 44-8 loss to the unbeaten Bulldogs, there were positives to take out of that game, and the first win of the season may well arrive this weekend.

Tarsha Gale Cup (U19s)

Our Under 19s went so close last weekend against the top-of-the-table Bulldogs only to lose 24-14.

It was a performance that should do the team’s confidence the world of good as it chases its first win of the season.

Like the Sea Eagles, the Bears are also 0 and 4 to start the season.

Jersey Flegg Cup (U21s)

The Anthony Watmough coached Jersey Flegg team heads into its first game on the back of a solid pre-season and is in good shape ahead of Saturday’s Round 1 match against the Rabbitohs.

The players were presented their jerseys during the week by three men who played an important role in Watmough’s own journey as a footballer.

On hand at the Narrabeen training base to do the honours were Manly Warringah Sea Eagles Life Members, Warwick 'Wok' Bulmer and Alex Ross, as well as former pathways administrator, Dick Harris.

NSW Cup

Our NSW Cup team heads into its first game of the season against the Rabbitohs with a ‘new’ name, and a new coach.

It will be the first time since 2016 that our team plays as Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup, after cutting ties with Blacktown Workers.

Guy Williams takes the reins as reserve grade head coach after serving as a transition coach and training coordinator for the NRL squad for the past two seasons.

It’s a quality lineup for the season-opener at 4 Pines Park, boasting several players who will no doubt get a taste of NRL action in the coming months.
