Vote Daly Cherry-Evans for Sports Dad of the Year

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles captain Daly Cherry-Evans is among 10 elite Australian athletes vying for the Sports Dad of the Year award to be announced on Father's Day on Sunday, September 3.

Now in its 14th year, the award showcases the contribution Australia's sporting elite make to their families both on and off the field.

The Sports Dad of the Year will highlight 10 elite athletes across a range of sports, giving insights into how they juggle fatherhood with their sporting commitments.

This year's nominated Sports Dads will be profiled on sportsdads.com.au which will include questions and answers from the players about their families, as well as some comments from the athletes' family.

All voters have the opportunity to win special prizes for their own father this Father's Day, with the winning Philips Sports Dad of the Year receiving $5,000 to donate to their charity of choice and Daly’s is Gotcha4Life, an Australian mental fitness charity.

Daly is the father of three daughters, Navi (10), Harvie (8) and Tully (5).

“Being a Dad is tough but it is amazing,” Daly said.

"Guiding the girls and supporting them to give them every opportunity to live a happy life is what I hope to achieve as a father.

“I’ll be first to admit there are plenty of things that I don’t offer as a Dad but I can hang my hat on my cooking.

"The girls enjoy helping me out with dinner every now and then which is fun but it’s the cakes and cookies that they love helping out with most”.

His partner, Vessa, went onto share a secret about Daly.

"He loves anything with sugar but gummy bears top the list. And the girls definitely have a sweet tooth too. They love going on 'daddy daughter dates' to get ice cream” she said with a smile.

This year's other finalists for the award include Parramatta full-back Clint Gutherson, Max Gawn (Melbourne AFL), Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood AFL), Marika Koroibete (Wallabies), Andrew Redmayne (Socceroos), Craig Goodwin (Socceroos), Matt Ebden (tennis), Rohan Dennis (cycling) and Usman Khawaja (Australian Test cricket).

Vote now for Daly at sportsdads.com.au

Voting closes on Tuesday, August 29, and the Sports Dad of the Year winner will be announced on Father's Day.
