Blacktown Workers will be looking to pick themselves up after another tough second half performance led to their second loss of the season in the NSW Cup last week.
The Sea Eagles soared to a 16-6 lead at half-time against Parramatta in a home game at Blacktown but a lack of discipline in the second half and some sloppy errors allowed the Eels to score two tries in the final five minutes to snatch a 30-22 win.
“We competed for 65 minutes and put ourselves in a position to win the game but we made errors at crucial stages in the game that led to points,’’ said Blacktown Workers Coach Greg Boulous.
“Our emphasis this week is to continue to build on our combinations as it takes time. We need to be more disciplined and put together a full 80 minutes this week against Souths.”
Blacktown Workers will be boosted by the return from injury of exciting full-back Jake Toby, their 2022 Players’ Player of the Year, who showed touches of his class in the NRL trials for Manly.
The Rabbitohs have lost their first three games of the season and head into the match on the back of a 38-16 defeat to the Roosters last weekend.
South Sydney sit two places below Blacktown in last place on the NSW Cup ladder heading into the clash at Accor Stadium in the first game of a triple header between the Sea Eagles and the Rabbitohs.
