Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles take on the high-flying Newtown Jets at Henson Park, Marrickville, on Saturday in round seven of the NSW Cup.
The Jets sit in third place on the ladder with Blacktown Workers back in ninth place.
Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles were outclassed on Easter Sunday by a star-studded St George Illawarra Dragons side featuring 12 of their top 30 players including Origin forward Aaron Woods, and the much talked about Tyrell Sloan and Jayden Sullivan just to name a few.
With injuries and Covid effecting selections, combined with the short turnaround for the Manly NRL side, there were seven late changes to the Blacktown Workers starting line up less than 24 hours before kick-off.
“The effort was there from our side, 12 -4 at halftime was a fair reflection of that, however, we were outclassed in the second half” said Blacktown Workers Coach Nathan Hogan.
"Jacob Sykes and James Roumanos had strong games for us playing huge minutes in the middle and Kaeo Weekes was also solid for us at full-back.
“From a development perspective, there are plenty of key learnings out of that game for some of our less experienced players, which we need to focus on as we go into Saturday.”
Saturday's game at Henson Park will be played as part of the Jets' annual 'Beer, Footy and Food Festival'.
