Prime Minister's XIII winger Reuben Garrick gladly gave up two family holiday's the moment he was called into three Australian sides over the next month.

Garrick crossed for his first representative try in the 52-10 PM's XIII romp of Fiji in Suva on Friday and there was no place he would have rather been after postponing a trip to Hawaii to make his representative debut.

A virtual unknown at the start of 2019, Garrick's rise in the game has been somewhat overshadowed by the formidable talent that came through the game's development system in 2019.

The performances of Payne Haas, Ryan Papenhuyzen and Maika Sivo may have stolen the limelight but Garrick's debut season has been just as impressive.

"If you told me I would be here at the start of the year I would've taken it over anything," Garrick told NRL.com.

"I was happy to play one first grade game this year. To be here now I'm very honoured and not taking any of it for granted.

"I talk to my family and try to keep my feet on the ground because it's been such a good year but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

"I want to play the next two teams and then go into the pre-season with a clear mind."

Garrick will return to Australia with the PM's XIII side on Saturday before preparations begin ahead of the World 9s tournament starting on Friday.

Fiji experience one Walker will remember for life

The Gerringong junior played just four minutes for St George Illawarra during their Auckland Nines campaign in 2016 but is hopeful a touch football background growing up can accommodate the format change.

"A buddy system with subs, end-to-end open footy suited to the outsides back footy is what I'm thinking," Garrick said.

"Defence is the challenge for it. I'm keen to see how our defensive principles and to learn about the Nines because you never think or analyse that concept."
