Manly Warringah Sea Eagles prop Martin Taupau has been named in the New Zealand team for Saturday's Rugby League World Cup clash with Samoa at Mt Smart Stadium.

It will be the 17th occasion Taupau has represented the Kiwis since his first Test jersey in 2014. Taupau had a huge season for Manly, recording 3522 running metres for an impressive average of 161.5 per game in his 22 matches.

Sea Eagles team-mate Addin Fonua-Blake has been named on the extended bench for the Samoan game.

Taupau could find himself up against Sea Eagles team-mates Frank Winterstein and Matthew Wright should they be named in the Samoan team for the match.
