Exciting times...Akuila Uate celebrates the victory over the Sydney Roosters with Sea Eagles fans.

Akuila Uate is definitely enjoying the winning feeling at the Sea Eagles.

The former NSW and Australian Test winger experienced a season of lows in 2016 that saw Uate lamish in the NSW Intrust competition for the Newcastle Knights.

“The last year was really hard for me....just injuries, losing games, and not performing well for the team,’’ Uate said.

“I made the right decision to move to Manly and I’m feeling happy now.

“For me, it’s good to win again. It has been so long. To win three games in a row is pretty amazing.”

A solid pre-season under Sea Eagles Coach Trent Barrett, as well as enjoying life on the Northern Beaches with his young family, has seen Uate re-produce some of his best form in the opening five rounds of the Telstra Premiership.

He also brought with him over 160 games of experience in the NRL.

“I never lost confidence. All that ‘Baz’ told me to do in the off-season was to keep doing my job. Keep catching those high balls, keep practising the things I need to practice at training, and everything will come through,’’ Uate said.

“I’ve been doing it since I moved to Manly and I have got to keep doing it. It is only round six. Practice makes perfect.”
