Sea Eagles Captain Daly Cherry-Evans (pictured) says fielding strong sides in trial matches is important to ensure the team hits the ground running in round one.

Manly Warringah Head Coach Trent Barrett has named a powerful side to play South Sydney Rabbitohs at Campbelltown Sports Stadium this Saturday at 7.30pm.

"We have been training extremely hard. We are definitely going into these trials matches as opportunities to prepare for the season ahead, and that starts with a good performance in round one," Cherry-Evans said.

“All of the boys have itchy feet and we can’t wait to get out there and play against other people besides our team-mates.”

Cherry-Evans said the trial against the Rabbitohs would be the first chance the team can work on their new combinations as well as his partnership with new five-eighth Blake Green.

“We have a new spine. We have squeezed in as many repetitions as we possibly can this pre-season to try and get our combinations flowing really well,’’ he said.
