Seven News Sydney tonight aired this apology to Manly Warringah Sea Eagles centre Steve Matai. tonight.
The network reported that Matai had his phone seized by Police in relation to match fixing allegations - a report Matai and the Sea Eagles emphatically denied.
Here is the apology.
“7 News accepts that its report was incorrect and that it would like to make it clear that Steve Matai did not have his phone seized and the investigation did not relate to him. 7 wishes to apologies to Steve Matai and regrets and distress caused to him.”
