Description –

Just like he does on the field every week, Sea Eagles full-back Tom Trbojevic saw too good of a chance this morning to let slip the opportunity to rib his older brother, Jake.

Fronting the media at a cold and wet Narrabeen, Tom was asked a question about ‘THAT’ amazing field goal charge down by Jake in Golden Point extra time at a soggy nib Stadium last Saturday.

It was a massive play. A minute later, Manly half-back Daly Cherry-Evans produced a miracle left foot field goal to sink the Warriors 15-14.

In answering the question, Tom was full of praise to start with.

“It was a great play. I didn’t see where he (Jake) came from and he managed to get his way in front of the ball,’’ Tom said.

“I don’t know how he jumped on it and still held on to it. It was fantastic from him.”

And then, the ‘opportunity’, to stir Jake arose. ‘Turbo’ sliced through.

“He did something for once, which was good. Great work."

It brought a huge laugh amongst reporters. Nothing like some ‘brotherly love’ banter.

That’s the Trbojevic boys. Down to earth, respectful, polite young characters off the field. Seriously talented on it.

And humble too.

When asked for the second time in four days about ‘HOW’ he came up with ‘THAT’ play, Jake, like he did at the post match press conference, shifted the focus from himself to the team.

“He (Shaun Johnson) was obviously going for the field goal, so I thought I had to charge it down,’’ Jake said.

“The full 80 minutes was pleasing for the whole team. I thought 1-17, everyone really put in and did their job really well.

“There were some really good performances right across the board which was most pleasing. Hopefully we can keep that going. For us to make the finals, we have got to keep winning.”

And when asked again if his team-mates were happy about ‘THAT’ play, Jake produced a straight bat that would have made any Australian cricketer proud.

“Yeah, I think they were happy. But just happy to get the win. Then ‘Cherry’ did a left footer field goal which was pretty special as well,’’ Jake delivered.

“That was great to see. Everyone was really stoked. It was like we won the Grand Final…we were all that happy.”

The session soon ended. Tom walked away happy…happingly knowing he got another one ‘over’ his brother.
