Manly Warringah Sea Eagles suffered a 42-23 loss to Sydney Roosters in the Holden Cup tonight at Allianz Stadium.

Sydney Roosters went to a 10-4 lead in the 18th minute when centre Joseph Manu scored out wide. Steadman failed to convert the try.

A great short pass by five-eight Nicholas Hynes put second-rower Billy Bainbridge over near the posts. Coffin failed to convert the try for a 10-8 scoreline.

Coffin then threw a dummy to send Lucas Price over to give Manly a 12-10 lead but it was shortlived when the Roosters hit back through a try to Luke Chalker next to the posts for a 16-2 lead.

A short kick from Hynes saw Ramien grabbed his second try in the 36th minute. Coffin failed to convert the try again for a 16-all scoreline.

Hynes then landed a field goal in the dying seconds of the first half to give the Sea Eagles a 17-16 lead at half-time.

Second half

The Roosters regained the lead when winger Bernard Lewis scored for a 20-17 lead before Lewis grabbed his second try in the same spot. Steadman converted for a 26-17 lead.

Joshua Martin showed some nice stepping near the posts. Coffin finally nailed his first conversion for a 26-23 scoreline before tries to Jarrett Boland, Grant Garvey and a second to Tuivasa-Scheck saw the Roosters win 42-23.
