Manly Warringah Sea Eagles NRL Assistant Coach Anthony Seibold has today been named as part of the new look XXXX Queensland Maroons support team.

Seibold, in his first season at the Sea Eagles under Coach Trent Barrett, joins the Maroons coaching team for 2016 as an assistant to Coach Kevin Walters.

“I'm very humbled and honoured to be asked to join the Maroons coaching staff for 2016,’’ Seibold said.

“I am excited and privileged to work with this group of players and staff under Kevie.

“I’m a passionate Qlder from Rockhampton, so this is an opportunity to represent the people of that region as part of the Origin program.

“I look forward to making a positive contribution to the group and supporting Kevie in my role".

A former NRL and English Super League player, Seibold spent the past three seasons at the Melbourne Storm as the 2013 Holden Cup Head Coach, and in more recent seasons, as an assistant to Craig Bellamy.

He was the Head Coach of the Mackay Cutters in the Intrust Super Qld Cup in 2011-12 and has also worked in the English Super League as an Assistant Coach.

Walters welcomed the appointment of Seibold and his new staff.

“The staff that we are bringing in are highly credentialed, they know their roles and I’m confident they will do a tremendous job for the players and the people of Queensland,” Walters said.

“I felt the changes were needed just to freshen the place up and to bring in new ideas that will stimulate the players a little bit more.”
