Manly Warringah Sea Eagles recorded a 30-12 win over Gungahlin Bulls in an NYC trial match at Pittwater Park today.
The Bulls, co-coached by former NRL player Lincoln Withers, fielded an open age side for their first trial of the season. The Bulls play in the Group 8 competition with their season starting in April.
The match was the Sea Eagles’ final trial after a hit out against Cronulla Sharks last Sunday.
The Sea Eagles opened the scoring with a 90 metre try to winger Hutuana Coffin off an intercept pass from Gungahlin five-eighth Dale Cooper-Shields. Five-eighth Hutana Coffin converted for a 6-0 lead.
Luke Hall got the visitors on the scoreboard when he darted over from dummy half. Half-back Jack Scholes converted for a 6-6 scoreline.
Hooker Jon Bernard Karouiz showed a touch of pace when he swooped on some open space to score from 20 metres out for a 10-6 lead after 33 minutes.
Sea Eagles winger Mitch Thomas gave the home side a 14-6 lead at half-time after a break by second-rower Billy Bainbridge.
Some nice play saw big Jake Morrison score under the posts in the 54th minute. Coffin converted for a 20-6 lead to the Sea Eagles.
Lucas Price stretched the lead to 24-6 with a try in the right corner. Coffin converted for a 26-6 lead after 64 minutes.
The Bulls scored a late try through Kyle Smith, converted by Scholes for the 26-12 scoreline.
Sea Eagles lock Darcy Cox crossed on the full-time siren for a 30-12 victory.
