The Sea Eagles have been defeated by the Bulldogs 14-8 in their final group Hunua match in the Auckland Nines.
The Bulldogs capitalised on a wealth of possession in the opening two minutes to score through Jarrod McNally. The try was converted by Matt Frawley for a 6-0 lead.
The Sea Eagles hit back when the ball was spread left across the backline for winger Tony Satini to score in the left corner. Captain Feleti Mateo failed to convert the try to leave Manly Warringah trailing 6-4 after five minutes.
Canterbury-Bankstown took a 10-4 lead when Tyrone Phillips slammed the ball down oe handed off a grubber kick regather in the sixth minute.
Jayden Hodges was carried off the field with a right knee injury after falling to the ground untouched. Early reports indicate a suspected season ending ACL injury.
2nd half
The second half started brightly for the Sea Eagles as Halauafu Lavaka was able to find his way to the try line following some great link up play from Isaac John.
The Sea Eagles desperately tried to find a way to hit the front but the Bulldogs sealed the final blow when Dane Chisholm crossed over the line to give Canterbury-Bankstown the victory.
The Sea Eagles have finished second of group Hunua and will play the winner of group Piha.
